Introducing Mason’s Place Too, A Home Away from Home for your child with autism. At MPT we offer a place for distinctive children to learn and grow. Here, in our safe, secure and caring environment, children develop a strong foundation necessary for a productive academic and social life. We recognize that children learn in different ways, so we’ve created an individualized educational experience that encourages active learning and is uniquely customized to fit your child’s learning and ability style.
Mason’s Place Too offers comprehensive special education day school programs for students, ages 3-12, with moderate global delays associated with autism and other developmental disabilities. The primary goal is to enable each student to realize his/her fullest potential and to become as independent as possible.
Mason is a fun loving, young adult male, who was diagnosed at the age of 3 with severe-profound autism. Mason is an outgoing and enjoys life and meeting new people. He relishes in exploring new adventures.
Mason is like most teenagers that occupy their time with video games and playing on the computer. His favorite cartoon is Sponge Bob and LeBron James is the best basketball player ever in Mason’s eyes. If you are so fortunate to ever meet Mason, you would agree his smile will brighten up any room. Mason has a zest for life and it’s very contagious. He will make your worst day, your best day ever. Mason is the type of teen who would be dancing while everyone else is standing around.
Welcome to Mason’s Place my name is Trena McCoy and I’m the founder of Mason’s Place.
Mr. Daniel C. Meilahn, aka “Mr. Dan”. has been a Special Education Teacher for over 40 years.
We will consult with local psychiatrists to determine the best care for our students.
Mason’s Place Too before care program starts before school (6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.) and after school (3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Our program encompasses the seven pseudo—curricular areas which conform to the concepts and activities listed in the Illinois State Standards.
Children with autism need help to learn how to socialize, just as their peers learn academics. Our social skills group will help children practice life skills – maintaining a conversation, respecting personal space, coping with bullying and more.
